<Why didn't the anglo-saxons conquer the whole GB?>

It's quite simple -they weren't hard enough to conquer the Celts of Wales, Scotland and Cornwall - then they were trounced by the French in 1066 and that's why Britain now has it's outdated German/French/Greek descended monarcy...

**Britain now has it's outdated German/French/Greek descended monarcy... **

The British Royal Family is a stabilising part of the Constitution, if you can disregard the many muppets they have in their ranks.

It's strange....whenever there is a ceremonial event in the UK (London or here in Edinburgh) involving all the usual pomp and pageantry and Royal appearances by the Queen or whoever representing the "outdated German/French?/Greek descended monarchy...with all the Guards in scarlet tunics and black busbies on parade and bands playing and the Horse Guards clopping by and all the Royal Company of Archers (in Edinburgh) etc etc....some of the most enthusiastic people in the crowds are foreign tourists. Among those the Americans are the most "rapturous"....the number of times I've heard Americans say: "Oh! we just LOVE your Queen!" :-)

"It's quite simple -they weren't hard enough to conquer the Celts of Wales, Scotland and Cornwall - then they were trounced by the French in 1066 and that's why Britain now has it's outdated German/French/Greek descended monarcy... "

The Anglo-Saxons invaded Cornwall in about 920 AD, invaded the southern half of Scotland which is why nowadays most lowland Scots are of Anglo-Saxon descent, and drove the other Britons into what is now Wales and then built Offa's Dyke to keep them out of England. Offa's Dyke still stands today and forms most of the border between England and Wales.

Plus, you can't really say "Why didn't the Anglo-Saxons invade Scotland and Wales?" because there were NO Scotland and Wales when the Anglo-Saxons invaded. It was only BECAUSE OF the Anglo-Saxon invasion that there exists a Scotland and Wales today, because they drove the Britons into the Northernmost and Westermost extremities of the island, which is why today there is a Scotland to the north and a Wales to the west.

So you can say that it was the Anglo-Saxons themselves who created Scotland and Wales. We didn't need to invade them because we created them as we pushed the Britons out of what is now England.

"then they were trounced by the French in 1066 and that's why Britain now has it's outdated German/French/Greek descended monarcy... " "

And I don't think the French have ever beaten the English, or the British, in any war since, from Agincourt right up to the Battle of Waterloo.

Enough others did...

I read a magazine once that had a "War League Table" on it. It showed the record of the United States and most European nations of how well they have fought in wars over the last few hundred years. It awarded 3 points if a country won the war, 1 point if it was a draw, and no points if it lost.

Britain has more points than any other country. It's rare that Britain loses a war.

France and Germany, though, have pretty pathetic war records. The French haven't won a war since 1804, and I don't think Germany has ever won a war since it was created in the early 1860's.

I bet the value of the jewels Lilibet has on her head and round her neck just about equal the GDP of some small countries somewhere or other in this inequitable world.
