They are found in various languages. I'm sure most of the Germanic language fans will see it that way. "Hand" is German, English and Dutch.
It is similar in Norwegian, so it is likely that it's similar in Swedish and Danish. The spelling is exactly the same in GED. "Kind" is child in German, but completely different in English. We could go through the whole list.
