World lingua franca

<<Spanish are just used by Spaniards and Hispanic Americans and no one else.>>

Well, Spanish is very studied in France and USA. So, there are probably a lot of Americans that speak in English and/or Spanish when they go to France on holidays, above all, in the South.

Anyway, we need a final comparison between French and Spanish to avoid a lot of messages and a waste of time.

FINAL COMPARISON BETWEEN FRENCH AND SPANISH:

1)SPEAKERS. Spanish is spoken by 400 million as mother tongue and 500 million as total speakers. French is spoken by 80 million as mother tongue (the less spoken of the international languages) and 180 million as total speakers.

2)INTERNET. Spanish is the third most important language in Internet after English and Chinese. French is sixth (after English, Chinese, Spanish, Japanese and German)

3)STUDENTS. Spanish is the 2nd most studied language after English, according to all the World updated webpages (2007-2009). French is probably the third most studied.

4)ECONOMIC POWER. Spanish is probably the second most powerful language if we consider the GDP of all the Hispanic countries (Spain, Mexico and South America) and the Hispanic minority of USA. French is probably 6th after English, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese and German.

5)TOP TEN LANGUAGES. Spanish is the second most spoken language (native) after Chinese. French is probably 17th. It is less spoken than several regional languages of India and China. It is out of the top ten languages and it will be never again in the top ten.

6)DIFFICULTY. Spanish is the easiest international language (phonetic point of view). French is a little more difficult.

7)SPRACHRAUM. The area of influence of Spanish language is from California to the south of Argentina. It is the first or second language of all the countries of the Americas, but Canada. It is the most spoken language of the Americas, and probably, the most spoken language in Western Hemisphere.

All the international languages, but French, have a big area or Sprachraum where the language is spoken by over 100 million people as native: Russian in the former USSR, Chinese in China, Spanish in Latin America, Arabic in the Arabic World. French is probably 4th in Europe (after English, Russian and German) and 5th in Africa (after English, Arabic, Swahili and Hausa). French is the first language NOWHERE. It is even a minoritary language in Europe and Africa.

8)PORTUGUESE. Portuguese is a language spoken by 225 million people in several countries of all continents. This language is very similar to Spanish. So, if you speak Spanish, you can understand over 700 million people around the World. They will be (Spanish-Portuguese speakers) over 1 billion in the near future.

9)DIPLOMACY. This point was the most important for French, but not nowadays. At this moment we can say that French and Spanish are both official in all the World organizations. However, according to a FRENCH webpage there is a dangerous tendency for French: people from Belgium, Switzerland and Canada usually speak in English in international meetings.

10)TENDENCY: the tendency of Spanish is obvious. Spanish is on the rise. Only Spanish, English and Chinese are increasing the number of speakers and students in the last 15 years. On the other hand, French is decreasing the number of students very fast. The number of speakers is increasing very slowly, near the stagnation.

According to several experts in languages, David Graddol for example, French is the language that will suffer the most important fall in the near future. According to this expert in languages, English, Spanish and Chinese will be in the top and probably Arabic and Hindi too.

Finalmente hai scritto una cosa giusta; ma non ti capisce. Scriviglielo in Spagnolo o al massimo in Inglese.

This is ridiculous. Argentina you know; Spain is a disaster saved only by Euro currency; the other American countries are insignificant or dictature. The only state with good propective is Mexico.

Actually the Euro is a problem for the Spanish economy rather than an advantage. In past crisis the Spanish Central Bank was able to devaluate the national Spanish currency and thus increase Spanish competitivenesss . Italy did exactly the same trick as prior to the Euro currency 1 Dollar was one million liras or more, even the paper the Lira was stamped on had more value than 1 Lira itself. The Euro was created with the German economy in mind, and perhaps the French one but for the rest of European economies it's a disadvantage in situations like these where great gubernamental control over economy is necessary. God thanks the crappy Euro is devaluating fast in relation to the $. The teutonic masters of the Euro blame Spain for this, but since both Dollar and Euro are not backed by gold anymore, they are in theory worthless. The UK was intelligent and never joined nor plans to join the Eurozone in the future. Euro currency is crap!. Tell it to your friends.

This is ridiculous. Argentina you know;

What do you know? I know that you are an ignorant, Argentina is growing at Chinese rates , at least before the subprime crisis appeared. What is quite remarkable considering Argentina has the highest GDP per capita in South America and also more than Mexico. Check your facts, moron.

" Swedes and Germans will use German to speak to each other instead of English"

As a Swede I can say that we use English when speaking to the Germans.

Not true: UK is planning to enter in Euro; Italy is safe tanks to Euro solidity. Think to the puny Italian Lira with this crisis; Yes, Argentina is growing at Chinese rates, but is still in a bad situation. Argentina's crisis was a disaster for all the world. I know because I lost 5.000 euros.

<<Not true: UK is planning to enter in Euro>>

Haha. That simply will not happen. Almunia is an Euroburocrat and is simply expressing his dream and that of their German masters. Did you hear Gordon Brown saying the UK will join the Euro? That is the point and not what the Continent says.

<<Italy is safe tanks to Euro solidity>>

Italy is as safe as a country in recession can be.

<<Yes, Argentina is growing at Chinese rates, but is still in a bad situation>>

What is bad situation for you? That Argentina is in worse situation than the average European country is for sure, but the same happens with Mexico and Brazil. Argentina is in relative better situation than the rest of South American countries and Mexico. Argentina is economically growing and Italy isn't. Italy has been in recession two times since 2001, not bad for a "safe" Euro country. Enjoy your shitty Euro currency while it lasts. In Brussels it's a big rumour that Italy will be the first country to be fired from the Eurozone.

What about Great Britain, FRance and Spain?? I think they are in deep waters too..

Guest you are not serious. "Almunia said" or "big rumour"?

I remember when you wrote that Spain passed economically Italy. Now I can see what is happening in Spain: 16% unemployment.

Almunia did not make it official, hence the rumour . I did not comment on this before but it's true , Spain has higher GDP per capita than Italy now.
