"I've read a lot about Occitan. From what I've gathered, there is not one Occitan language, but numerous, somewhat related dialects that are more or less grouped into the Occitan classification. If you were to draw a line from Bordeaux to Geneva, everything north of that line is considered Langue de Oil (French), everything to the south is Lague d'Oc, or Occitan."

No, because there is also the franco provençal (spoken into Lyon, Savoie, Lombardy (ITaly) and Valle D'aosta (ITaly also). Franco Provençal is not in te Occitan familly.

Franco-provençal (or Arpitan) family can be considered in the Gallo-romanic middle languages due to similarities with both Oïl and Oc.
But In France exist other romance languages exceptions as Catalan (but very close with Occitan) or Corsican.

And also in the Suisse Romande (Genève, Vaud, Valais, Fribourg, Neuchâtel, Jura).
