Why do some here wish that English was linguistically pure?

could we talk about the word "busted" that TV news people use all the time. Such as.................

The side of the house got busted when the VW automobile crashed into it.

what's the deal with "busted"?

other than showing the loss of 'r', which has always been a feature of English from its inception (OE sprecan>specan ["speak"]; ModEng curse>cuss; arse>ass, barse>bass, etc) I see nothing special about it really...it's just a corruption/evolution of "burst"
