Well similar incidents then...
Candy   Sat Aug 27, 2005 5:19 pm GMT
Well, Sander, if you're going to keep posting about how easy English is, it's a lot more convincing if you actually get it RIGHT.

Guest: you're welcome!!
Sander   Sat Aug 27, 2005 5:33 pm GMT
English is easy! ):-)
Candy   Sat Aug 27, 2005 5:42 pm GMT
Yeah, you make it look soooo easy when you can't even spell 'aren't' correctly....
Sander   Sat Aug 27, 2005 5:45 pm GMT
If you English were not so lazy and would just write all the words to their full extent I would not have any problems with the abbreviations
Candy   Sat Aug 27, 2005 5:46 pm GMT
words in full : are not
where's the double 'r' then?
Sander   Sat Aug 27, 2005 5:48 pm GMT
I'll kill you!!! It's only a 2,5 hour drive from here to Dortmund!
Candy   Sat Aug 27, 2005 5:53 pm GMT
Go to Dortmund if you want - I'm in Düsseldorf.
Anyway, I've got better things to do then sit here typing this crap. If you don't want me to correct you, I won't. End of discussion.

To anyone reading this, sorry the German thread had to degenerate into this. Maybe the mods could delete the last few posts??

?! Just joking you know... aren't (!) we a bit irritated this evening...
Candy   Sat Aug 27, 2005 5:59 pm GMT
Yes, we are. My partner is in England and I'm stuck here in Deutschland feeling lonely and sorry for myself.
Seriously, Sander, stop posting messages about how easy English is. It's making me even more irritated. I know Dutch people who write English much better than you do, so don't get too smug about it.
El C   Sat Aug 27, 2005 6:00 pm GMT
Candy,

Well done!
Candy   Sat Aug 27, 2005 6:02 pm GMT
El C, uhm, thank you?! I guess you've forgiven me for my 'paranoid' post on the Québec thread??

know the feeling my partner is in Egypt for another 2 days... /:(

But really, I normally only say that English is an easy language by comparison. (Even you will have to admit that German is ,at least grammaticaly , harder than English)

And another thing. I know people who write and speak better German and Dutch than you.I'm not a native so I make mistakes (not that being natives means you don't make mistakes).

Not for Germans. I really don't know - grammatically if nothing else, I suppose so.

There are 150 million people who speak better German and Dutch than me, probably. But I don't endlessly post on a forum about how easy they are.
I'm not saying that my English is perfect - it isn't (I still catch myself saying 'less people' sometimes, for example). I care about good English though, and I correct students' mistakes 100s of times a day - it's hard to stop! Does anyone ever correct your English, Sander, because you could improve a hell of a lot?

I can imagine that but still it seems as if you're focusing on me...

I begg you're pardon?!
